Warmup exists for one reason: X routes DMs from low-trust accounts into the recipient’s spam request folder, where they are never seen. Before you start: account prerequisites

  • Account age of at least 6 months — older accounts carry more baseline trust and warm up faster.
  • An X Premium subscription ($8/month) — required for outreach volume and a meaningful trust signal on its own. In our benchmark data Premium leads also replied at roughly 1.8x the non-Premium rate, so the badge matters on both sides of the conversation.
  • Professional (Creator) mode enabled via “Edit Profile” — this opens the account’s DM request inbox to non-followers.
  • A complete profile: photo, banner, bio, and a handful of posts. Empty profiles get filtered and ignored.
  • At least 10 open DM conversations with anyone on X — the minimum conversational history before automation should touch the account.

Daily Routine for Each Account (Days 1–10):

  • 3 retweets or 1 tweet
  • 5-10 likes
  • Scroll the feed for 9-15 minutes
  • Comment under posts 3-5 times (optional)
  • Accept 2 message requests

The point of the routine is pattern, not volume: a little genuine-looking activity every day beats a burst of activity once a week. Spread the actions across the day rather than doing everything in one two-minute session.

DM Simulation Protocol:

  • Use 20 burner accounts to send DMs to each target account (i.e., each target receives 20 message requests over the 10 days).
  • Ensure all target accounts have been switched to Professional (Creator) mode via “Edit Profile.”
  • On each target account, accept the DM requests from the spam folder.
  • Simulate a real conversation between the burner and target account for at least 1 minute. This shouldn’t be just one or two messages—aim for a back-and-forth that mimics a natural dialogue.

This step teaches X’s filters that DMs from your account get accepted and answered. Accepted, replied-to conversations are the strongest deliverability signal an account can accumulate — which is also why keeping response quality high during real outreach protects the account afterwards.

Post-Warm-Up (Day 8 Onwards):

  • By Day 8, the target accounts should no longer land in spam when sending DMs.
  • Begin real outbound gradually: start well below your cap and step volume up over several days rather than jumping to the maximum on day one.
  • Mind the current limits: as of mid-2026, X caps DMs at roughly 35 per day for Premium accounts. Older guides (and older versions of this one) describe ramps to 450+ DMs/day — that reflects an earlier era of X’s limits, not today’s. Warmup improves deliverability within the cap; it does not raise it.
